The works of Belgian artist Thierry de Cordier have been characterized as withholding and paradoxical. Born in 1954, de Cordier studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent between 1972 and 1976. He is known for his expressions of melancholia, and refined and detailed drawings. Some of de Cordier's art works include the 'Zelfportret als regenworm,' 'Jardiniere,' 'Moi,' 'Scriptorium,' Verondestel dat ge een groente zijt,' and 'Attrape-souffrance.'
