A study was conducted to investigate one of several types of melt extraction feature which ranged from fractures filled with melt-crystallized minerals to rocks composed only of the mineral olivine. These melt extraction feature types were observed in the mantle section of an ophiolite located in Oman. The research focused on replacive dunites (rocks composed only of olivine) which exhibited a deformation pattern that is sub-parallel to the paleo-seafloor.
