Registration of Five Glabrous Multi-Adversity Resistant (MAR-6) Germplasm Lines of Upland Cotton.

The Texas Agricultural Experiment Station released in April 1997 five multi-adversity resistant (MAR) cotton germplasm lines with high resistance to disease, high fiber and seed quality, and high potential for increased yield. The lines were produced by the Cotton Genetic Improvement Program, and were tested over a 2-to-3 year period. They are superior to previously released MAR germplasm in their response to several kinds of insects and pathogens. The lines were also evaluated for lint yield, percentage, boll size, and fiber quality.
