Dec. 19 -- ATLANTA -- Georgia Power Co. and state regulators agreed Friday to rate cuts that will save homeowners and businesses $834 million during the next three years.
The Public Service Commission unanimously voted to cut rates by 9 percent during the three years, Georgia Power's first reduction in 34 years. The state's largest utility had hoped to return less money to ratepayers, but accepted the deal rather than risk even deeper cuts.
