The Wagner Act of 1935 has a history that reflects the colorful characters often found in the field of labor law and the important principles that underlie relationships between labor and management. The Wagner Act later became known as the National Labor Relations Act. Senator Robert F. Wagner sponsored the Act. Interviews with key personalities in the development of the act and in labor law reveal that officials in high levels in government did not look at the act as a radical document even though it was an important step forward in labor law and social justice.
