To my friends on my 50th birthday
Let's raise our glasses & give thanks
to our great excitement & hunger
for the hereafter the joyful sleep
of expectation our hands trembling
like trophies of prophetic plunder
like maestros of celebratory gestures
the Pentecostal suffering that seizes
entire winter afternoons in amber
our best days that shake us with fear
& personality our nights of provocative
kissing behind hotel rhododendrons
the secret ...
