Poet Charles Simic gives voice to the visual gifts of iconoclast Joseph Cornell's shadow boxes in his 1992 book, "Dime-Store Alchemy: The Art of Joseph Cornell." Simac seemingly co-authors the book with Cornell as he gives verbal discourse to analyze Cornell's art. Simic calls this work the third image.
