The Pea Ridge magnetite deposit, Washington County, Missouri, is hosted by Precambrian volcanic rocks of the St. Francois terrane. Pea Ridge is a massive deposit with more than 100 million tons of ore (Arndt 1981). The bottom of the deposit has not been delineated. The late Jack Emery (Pea Ridge mine geologist; 1975 pers. com.) estimated that there are more than one hundred years' worth of mineable resources.
