Los Angeles religious leaders have launched a national campaign Oct. 23 calling for the full enactment of federal hate crimes legislation by the year 2000.
The "200,000 by 2000" campaign was announced at a rally sponsored by the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches. The campaign will attempt to gather signatures and endorsements of 200,000 American religious leaders for enactment of the legislation by the year 2000.
