Energy Department to Negotiate Extension of Argonne Laboratory Contract

CHICAGO, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on outstanding scientific and technical accomplishment, as well as excellent performance in operations, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will negotiate with the University of Chicago to extend the current multi-year performance-based contract for the management and operation of Argonne National Laboratory.

The Department's current contract with the University runs through Sept. 30, 1999. The new contract extension to be negotiated would extend this agreement for an additional five years. At the time this contract was executed ...
