However, the bollworm outburst taking place in many cotton growing areas in the recent year has caused a great damage to farm crops, especially to cotton. Why can bollworms run rampant? After more than 4 years' testing and analysis, Chinese scientists have found that dry, weather, excessive amount of nitrogenous fertilizers and irrational pesticide application are the major factors for the extensive bollworm outburst.
