LOS ANGELES, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The erratic movement called turbulence is a drag in more ways than the one dreaded by white-knuckled air passengers.
Aircraft and ships continuously generate turbulence in their wake -- causing fuel-consuming "fluid resistance," called "drag" by engineers.
Control over such turbulence might soon be achieved through experiments for which some of the theoretical and mathematical groundwork has been laid by a pair of aerospace engineers at the University of Southern California.
