CHEMICAL INDUSTRY:COMMISSION ACTION PLAN FOR COMPETITIVENESS

Summary:
The European chemical industry, the world's largest, faces a number of challenges, including the need to compete more effectively at international level over the long term. The EU could take measures to create a more level playing field with its main competitors (the OECD and newly industrialised countries) in terms of market access, environmental framework and tax and social regulations.
