COHESION FUND: EU AID FOR SPANISH AND GREEK ENVIRONMENT PROJECTS

Summary: Ten regional aid packages for Spain and Greece were approved by the European Commission, committing ECU 399.2 million in Structural Funds to help finance various transport and environment projects in the four countries. Nearly ECU 174 million of this goes to environment projects.

The programmes, announced on November 30, fall under the Cohesion Fund umbrella, designed for the four poorest Member States of the European Union - Spain, Portugal, Ireland and Greece.
