CHERRY HILL, N.J. -- The Army plans to cut back severely on cleanup studies at active sites, from $130.7 million in fiscal year 1996 to $51.3 million in FY 1997, said Robert York, chief of Installation Restoration for the Army Environmental Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.
The Environmental Center spends nearly half of the Army's cleanup-study dollars, York told the Defense Cleanup Northeast & Mid-Atlantic conference here late last month.
