Summary: France must open the port of Brest to the Irish Continental Group (ICG), according to a recent draft notice that the European Commission was expected to send to French authorities. Last year, the French refused ICG's proposal for a roll-on roll-off ferry link with Rosslare and Cork refused because it would have required a new jetty to be built in Brest.
In December, ICG filed a complaint with the Commission, which ruled that France had violated Regulation 4055/86, which provides for freedom to provide maritime transport services within the European Union.
