TOURISM SECRETARIAT PROJECTS INCREASE OF FIVE PERCENT IN NUMBER OF FOREIGN VISITORS TO MEXICO IN 1994

Despite the increase in violence and political turmoil in Mexico, the Tourism Secretariat (Secretaria de Turismo, SECTUR) expects a total of seven million foreign tourists to visit Mexico during 1994, an increase of about 5% from 1993.
Tourism Secretary Jesus Silva Herzog, addressing tourism industry officials in San Luis Potosi state on April 29, said the seven million visitors are expected to generate US$4.5 billion in revenue for the industry.
