Starck acquires Lonza's alumina and ceramics businesses

H.C. Starck GmbH & Co of Goslar, Germany, has signed the contract covering the acquisition of the fused alumina and ceramic businesses of the Lonza -Werke GmbH of Waldshut-Tiengen, Germany, an Alusuisse-Lonza Group company. Under the terms of the agreement, Starck will acquire from Lonza equipment for the production of fused alumina and ceramics, and also know-how, patents and stocks. This includes fused alumina for abrasives, refractories and other applications, oxide plasma spray powders, and ultrafine silicon carbide powders for the manufacturing of engineering components.
