Baseball is "resistant to a lot of change'

Going from president of Yale to president of the National League doesn't represent a midlife career change. I made a much more dramatic shift when I left the Yale faculty to become a full-time administrator. When faculty friends heard that I would take the National Legue post, some were delighted and others were taken aback--and it seems to me to each his own. I could sense on some people's part a touch of bafflement, to put it at its most polite.
