Conducting polymers: Gearing up for a bright future

The world market for conducting plastics is expected to be in the region of 300 000 tonnes, or around US$2 billion by the year 2000: a sizeable fraction of this market could be filled by intrinsically conducting polymers (ICPs). Neste is one company currently working on melt processable ICP blends, and hoping to fill this expected market niche.
