Nowadays, Indonesia has been able to produce nitric acid to meet domestic demand. Because of this, Indonesia's nitric acid imports have shown the tendency to decline. Nitric acid is a petrochemical product made from natural gas through the process of catalystic oxidation of ammonia. In the industrial sector, nitric acid is used as a basic material for ammonia nitrate (a kind of fertilizer), explosives, and synthetic organic chemicals such as dies, cellulose nitrate, drugs, and others.
