Citric acid market turning downward from strong to weak

Starting from the second half of 1988 the citric acid market in China turned sluggish and its price kept falling from 7 200 yuan/t in June 1988 to 5 000 yuan/t at the end of 1989. In 1990 and 1991 the price fluctuated at a level about 5 500 yuan/t. However from 1992 the citric acid market began to show brisk with the price going up step by step. In January 1992 the price climbed to 6 000 yuan/t and in April it rose further to 6 500 yuan/t and in September it even escalated to 7 500-8 000 yuan/t rising with a monthly growth rate of 200 yuan/t.
