Venetian house masters Fortuny skill

NEW YORK -- A Venetian designer claiming to have mastered the pleating and dying techniques of Mariano Fortuny is offering a line of handmade Fortuny-like evening dresses for fall.

Alessandro Alessandra will design the dresses for Venetia Studium, a company he runs with his partner, Lino Lando. The line will be sold under the Delphos name and will include Fortuny reproductions as well as styles made of hand-dyed and pleated fabrics. Murano glass beads will be used for detailing.
