Intelligence and Heredity, Continued

THE SPRING 1986 number of The Public Interest brings some piquant data on the subject of intelligence testing. Authors Snyderman and Rothman surveyed 1,020 professionals in the education and testing field regarding the validity and usefulness of IQ and other tests, a matter vexed by politics and ideology and the occasion of much recent litigation. An overwhelming majority of the professionally well informed consider that intelligence has a strong genetic component, even as musical, athletic, and other abilities do.
