WASHINGTON, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Models of engines patented in the United States in the 1870's by Gottlieb Daimler, father of the present-day Mercedes-Benz automobile, and one of the first engines of his design built in the United States are highlights of two exhibits devoted to invention, enterprise and the patent system opening at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.
