MEASURING MACHINE MAKES MATCHED ASSEMBLIES

Use of a Mitutoyo BN 710S computer controlled co-ordinate measuring machine as a precision assembly jig has enabled Bio-Rad Micromeasurements Ltd to reduce the time needed for on-site set-up of its Quaestor and Q2 semi-conductor process control systems. Bio-Rad assembles and adjusts the eight mechanical modules that make up Quaestor's wafer handling system on the CMM table. The method gives repeatability between components that gives full interchangeability and right-first time assembly of the system as a whole.
