JAKARTA STOCK EXCHANGE REGAINS VIGOR; BANK SHARES DOMINATE TRADING

Following the end in late December 1991 of a bearish atmosphere which had prevailed since April 1991, the Jakarta Stock Exchange started to regain vigor, marked by a continuous increase in the Composite Index, i.e. from 246.95 early in January to 294.226 at the end of last week. Similarly, the value of share trading also rose from Rp 354.5 billion in November 1991 to Rp 625 billion in December although it decreased slightly to Rp 615 billion in January 1992.
