PLYWOOD INDUSTRY APPROACHING CULMINATION POINT: Plywood exports beginning to slow down
|
Plywood no longer plays the most dominant role in the country's non-oil/gas exports. Plywood exports have been exceeded in value by exports of textile and textile products, indicating a decline in the role of plywood and the growing roles of other non-oil/gas commodities.
The declining role of plywood has been caused by domestic problems, mainly the increasing shortage of log supply, as well as external problems, which make it difficult for maintaining the position of the commodity as the biggest foreign exchange earner outside the oil/gas sector.
