Hermes: Controlling its image
PARIS -- Hermes Parfums reclaimed its U.S. distribution rights from Beecham Cosmetics in December because it can do a better job of reinforcing the Hermes image than anyone else, according to Jean-Paul Lepelley, president of Hermes Parfums.
"The first goal of Beecham was to develop its own brands rather than the Hermes brands. Hermes was not really their problem, and I can understand that," he said. Beecham, based in Chicago, sells mass market fragrance and toiletry products primarily under the Jovan brand.
