NEW YORK -- At a time when the textile and apparel trade balance is ever worsening, the U.S. trade balance in man-made fibers remains strong. In the third quarter of 1985, the M-MF net-export balance of trade, the surplus of exports over imports, rose about 13 per cent against the same quarter of the prior year.

Exports continued to outpace imports, although the numbers were not spectacular for all fiber categories. The strength in the trade balance, however, eased at the close of the third quarter. The trade figures in this report were compiled by the Textile Economics ...
