FEW ISSUES this year have generated more hysteria than the problems of American agriculture. You can be sure that common sense has departed when a congressional panel reverentially takes testimony on the farm crisis from actresses who recently played farm wives in the movies. Tears flowed copiously from the lovely eyes of Jessica Lange, Sissy Spacek, and Jane Fonda as they described their feelings for beleaguered farmers.
