TV Guide magazine says at least one in six American homes will have a VCR.(videocassette recorder)

RADNOR, Pa., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- At least one in every six American homes will have a videocassette recorder by the end of 1984, and 1985 models will sell for about half of what VCR's cost in 1980, TV Guide magazine said today.

Consumer electronics expert David Lachenbruch, writing in the current (Oct. 6) issue, said the trend in VCR's is toward simplification and ease of operation, plus major improvements in clarity. VCR's made their debut in 1975. There should be no shortage this year -- Japan is expected to produce about 25 million sets.
