NEW YORK -- Spurred by the newness in wools, retailers are devoting an average of 30 per cent of their outerwear purchases to the wool category for fall 1984, 20 per cent more than a year ago.

According to a survey of men's specialty buyers shopping the aisles of the National Association of Men's Sportswear Buyer's Show (NAMSB) -- which runs through Wednesday at the New York Coliseum -- a greater percentage of their outerwear open-to-buy dollars are being allocated to both short and long lenth fashion wool coats.
