Saint George's Round Church in Halifax, often called Prince Edward's Church, was built in 1800 under the patronage of Edward, Duke of Kent, soldier son of George III, who commanded the king's forces in Halifax from 1786 to 1800. Edward was a talented amateur architect who had a passion for circular buildings, His legacy to Halifax includes the Town Clock, the Martello tower in Point Pleasant Park and the round music room at Prince's Lodge in Bedford. The church, which was badly damaged by fire in June 1994, was featured in the Fall 1995 issue of The Loyalist Gazette.
