Gerard Collins's Work Ethic series is the latest example in a practice of rules-based painting that he has pursued since graduating from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design fifteen years ago. In his exhibition statement for the show, Collins was typically direct, stating that the work, far from being inspired, was based on a formula: time = money.
