1996 IS the 350th anniversary of the completion of the Westminster Confession of Faith. Hammered out over a period of several years by more than 100 learned "divines" (ministers) in the midst of the English Civil War, this confession along with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, the Directory for the Public Worship of God, and the Form of Presbyterian Church Government were the remarkable products of the Westminster Assembly. These documents have had a shaping power in Presbyterian identity and life for more than three centuries.
