The title of this monograph is well chosen. It is a collection of seven essays based on papers given at the 1994 Rare Book Group seminar held at Marsh's Library, Dublin. They cover aspects of the publishing and the book trade outside Dublin up to 1850.
The Dublin book trade is well represented by two previous books: Dublin's Trade in Books, 1500-1800 by M. Pollard (Oxford, 1989) and Irish Booksellers and English Writers, 1740-1800 by Richard C.
