There are many conflicting accounts of the treatment United Nations prisoners of war received in Korea. Their experiences varied for a number of reasons.
One was the time of capture. Most British prisoners were captured prior to the arrival of the Canadians, many of them in the Imjin battles. In many cases, they were handed over to the "tender mercies" of the North Koreans.
