The Bible is the most influential collection of books in western civilization and purports to provide answers to some of the basic questions of life. The association between the Bible and astronomy has been quite complicated and frequently turbulent. There are perhaps misguided attempts by some modern astronomers to harmonize the Bible and their discipline. Generally, however, scientists who do not think that ethics should be built on a biblical foundation do not consider the harmony of the Bible with astronomy important.
