The effect of analogy instruction on young children's metaphor comprehension.

Analogy instruction improves young students' abilities to interpret metaphors. Children who received such instruction translated more metaphors correctly and offered a larger number of other possible explanations than children who did not. Instruction in analogy also enhances students' abilities to recognize relationships and incorporate new information.
