The popularity of Theodore Roosevelt is growing and in 1998 he is still regarded as a hero. He is described as having raw, physical courage and honesty. Roosevelt was the youngest person to become present and is considered one of the most personable presidents. For all of his boisterous, impulsive behavior, Roosevelt was still considered a man of moderation.

It may be that we are presently so devoid of legitimate heroes that we are hungrily looking to the past for one we can justly venerate. Or it may be just a reflection of the nostalgic temper of the times. Whatever the case, we are ...
