Georges Bataille and Jean-Paul Sartre were among the several writers defending Henry Miller's 'Tropic of Cancer,' 'Tropic of Capricorn,' and 'Black Spring' when those works were published in France in 1946. Much of what Bataille and Sartre critically wrote about each other has similar themes. All three writers share the concept of literature as revolt against society.
