When one hears the word "Madagascar," visions of lemurs appear. Madagascar is a unique island country located in the Indian Ocean 250 miles off the East Coast of Africa, south of the equator. Its unique flora and fauna have been isolated for 165 million years, since it separated from Africa. Eighty-five percent of its flora and fauna are found nowhere else in the world. There are fascinating chameleons, snakes and other reptiles; there are odd crabs, insects and other invertebrates. There are unusual plants and beautiful flowers.
