Austria and Germany, the Central Powers during World War I, failed in their war efforts due to serious strategic errors. Battle plans were implemented improperly or not at all, and static trench warfare created stalemates. Troops were not deployed effectively in appropriate numbers. Although analysis showed allied strengths, the Central Powers did not adequately consider the implications.
