ANDY MURRAY was forcibly reminded of the tenacious nature of his business here last night.
After a relatively genteel reintroduction to the game during the opening rounds of the Valencia Open, following a six-week enforced absence, Murray had to engage Spaniard Fernando Verdasco, a dangerous opponent ranked No8 in the world, in toe-to-toe combat.
Ultimately, Verdasco yielded to Murray's resolve, calmer nerves and classier tennis. British No1 Murray, 22, needed two hours to silence Verdasco's challenge.
