Throughout music history, there are transcendent figures who have helped to propel music forward with dedication and passion. This is particularly true of percussionist Jack Costanzo, who literally introduced bongos to American music. The bongo traces its history to the Cuban music styles known as changui and son. They developed around Oriente province in the late 1800s around the time when slavery was abolished in Cuba.
