In the past year, Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas has had the opportunity to care for environmentally sensitive patients (ESPs) who undergo surgery. To better prepare for ESPs, we needed to understand this condition and identify the substances in the environment that could trigger reactions. There also was a need to find a method to address and communicate the needs of these patients to others.
