Revenue losses due to software piracy reached an estimated $11.4 billion worldwide in 1997, up from $11.2 billion in 1996, according to the 1997 Global Software Piracy Report recently released by the Business Software Alliance (BSA) and the Software Publishers Association (SPA). This increase follows the decline of 16 percent seen between 1995 and 1996, which was attributed to lower software prices.
