Title VII sex discrimination in the public sector in the 1990s: the courts' view.

Federal court cases involving sex discrimination in the public sector were reviewed. Five classes of employment decisions were highlighted, namely discharge, promotion, transfer and assignment, compensation and benefits and initial hiring decisions. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was found instrumental in controlling employees' deportment and preventing the occurrence of sex discrimination.
