Some of our greatest wildlife treasure can be found right in our own backyards. Besides the obvious flashes of color presented to us by songbirds and butterflies, another group of small, attractive creatures regularly brightens our gardens and woodland margins.
Enter the beetles, the armor-clad fashion plates of the insect, world. Incredibly adaptive, beetles can be found almost everywhere one looks in nature. They come in a great variety of sizes, shapes and often, dazzling colors and patterns. Some kinds, like fireflies, even glow in the dark.
